This training course is an already funded part of our Erasmus+ accreditation which is dedicated to rising environmental and climate awareness and action in the field of work through re-creating the connection with nature (also in urban settings) and through active participation.
This course will happen as follow up after our study visits in various community gardens around Europe.
OBJECTIVES
The main objectives of this training course are:
1) to explore how green urban spaces, such as community gardens, can be used in the field of youth;
2) to explore and develop new methods of youth active participation, such as inclusive decision making and more.
As always, we will also dedicate some small part of the programme to talk about well-being in order to lessen the risks of burn-out. And as always we dedicate our energy to leave the highest impact on people/organizations and the smallest impact on environment. Besides that, some of the partners have expressed interest in general information about Erasmus+ projects, so we will dedicate a session or two to this topic.
DATES
The planned days are 3rd until 9th of Jun, travel days are 2nd and 10th of Jun (for green travel more days are allowd). If you are interested, you can arrive a few days earlier/leave a few days later. We will still reimburse the travel costs, but not the food/stay.
DON'T BOOK ANY TICKETS YET.
PLACE
The one and only city of Liepaja. We are located on the beautiful white sand coast of Baltic sea which is one of the most polluted in the world. And in 2027 we are going to be the Culture Capital of Europe which makes us really proud. If you want to see more, check this: https://www.facebook.com/liepaja2027.lv (the capital of culture FB page); or just google (or better use DuckDuckGo or Ecosia) Liepaja.
PARTICIPANTS' PROFILE
We are looking for people who already work with youth on any level (youth workers, teachers, social workers, mentors and other support persons, municipality workers of youth departments; youth leaders that work with groups of youngsters etc.) and who want to include more outdoor work, gardening, reconnection with nature, climate issues, environmental awareness in their work with young people. IMPORTANT
For those who are not aware of this yet, I want to remind that "Radi Vidi Pats" stands for projects that are making future into more beautiful place then it is now. Therefore we realize the project as environment-responsible as possible. We encourage the participants to use land transportation (cars, trains, buses) especially if the distance is les than 1500km. And people choosing flights have to be ready to pay CO2 emission costs (example: Berlin-Riga-Berlin is aorund EUR 20).
Also the meals are vegetarian by default as meat industry is one of the main causes for climate changes. Participants have to be ready for a training that aims for a greener future.
We still haven't decided about the hotel/hostel/guest house as the prices in summer are a bit crazy. You have to be ready to share rooms with more people. If you want, you can take tent and sleep in nature, also manageable.
